If you like either you'll enjoy playing both and might as well start with Mordor. If it's only mildly interesting then you can skip Mordor as the important story bits are explained in the beginning of SoW. Mechanically shadow of war is just a better game because it is basically just the first game with more mechanics.
So I'm playing shadow of war, I got to the part where you rescue balanor with Idril and they decide to stay in mordor. after that I really have no idea what missions to do to progress in the main story I don't like this game as much as I liked the first one and I wanna finish the story quickly so I could sell it before it loses value and the weird mission system doesn't help at all.
