I have a Mondeo 2.0 163bhp which i have only just bought but it has a gearbox issue that i was unaware when i bought it. I did test drive it but didn't get above 40 mph. The box seems to be slipping when under acceleration and also if you let off and slow down you feel the car not slowing down smoothly again as if it was slipping. Auto gearbox problem. I have a Mondeo MK4 which after getting a clucth done the steering started to get heavy when turning right only. The pump would make a whining noise also. The rear engine / gearbox mounting bracket is held onto the gearbox and sub frame by two 15mm bolts, one of the bolts is a few mm longer than the other one and if they are fitted the wrong

First post here i just recently bought a used 2007 2.3litre Mondeo. recently i just had a gearbox seal replaced as there was a very slight leak i drove off from the workshop without any problems. after a couple of days, the gearbox didnt shift up by itself but manually selecting the gears is fine. The car sounds normal on tick over. . The car sounds rough and gravelly on normal acceleration in lower gears. If you give it hard acceleration the roughness is not so noticeable. . The car vibrates the most if held in neutral then slowly brought up to around 1300 rpm. It smooths out the higher the revs go beyond this. The problem is a damaged seal on the gearbox. Fordhas produced a repair kit (part number: 1863642), so you’ll need to follow the procedure in your Haynes Mondeo manual for removing the affected seal, then fit the new one before reassembling the, making sure that all fastenings are done up to the correct torque. The actuator should only move when the engine is started. It is the actuator (little black box) which controls the positioning of the variable vanes inside the turbo. When the engine is switched off, the actuator will push rearward, and when the engine is switched on, the actuator should pull forward. once you know you can undo this,have a tube long enough to fit in the. fill hole,then with oil tray ready at the back of the gearbox undo the bottom. drain plug,replace drain plug.
